She has helped many committed and engaged couples develop their relationship for an optimal marriage experience and address healthy relationship blockers including but not limited to a lack of security, emotional awareness + intelligence, and fruitful communication + conflict resolution habits.

Amaris is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) who received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Salisbury University and her Master’s in Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a therapeutic treatment approach that has helped many individuals transform from anxious and insecure to calm, clear-minded, and confident.

She is also trained in Emotion Focused (EFT) and Relationship Enhancement Therapy, counseling approaches that teach couples how to enhance their emotional connection, reaffirm their love, and secure their partnership. Her 10-week pre-marital curriculum, guided by her story + faith-based perspective, and principles of EFT + CBT, has helped many dating and engaged couples divorce-proof their relationship and confidently say “I do” so that they can provide a secure foundation for their children, experience a lifetime of love, and leave a meaningful legacy.

Amaris is also co-leader of the Celebrate Recovery program at the First Baptist Church of Salisbury, MD where she helps individuals successfully navigate and move through emotional hurts and let go of unhelpful habits so that they can thrive in life and relationships.

Amaris is known for her compassionate, warm, and joyful spirit. She enjoys developing personally, laughing, skating, solitude, cuddling with her husband, traveling, and coffee meet-ups.

She is a Christian, ministers’ wife, daughter, sibling, auntie, and mentor <3.

#2 What is ‘pre-marital’ therapy?

Premarital therapy is a proactive, preparation-based and preventative approach to creating an optimal marriage. It addresses the internal and external influences of self and your partnership, with a focus on attachment and emotional connection, to help you invest in and experience a meaningful marriage. #3 What are Emotion-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) is a here-and-now therapeutic approach that helps you learn the underlying needs of your future spouse, hear what’s often unspoken, create and practice new cycles of communication, and enhance your emotional connection. This lens will help you secure your partnership and intentionally hear, love, and connect with one another.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that speaks to your inner world and behavior patterns, and looks deeply at the relationship between your emotions, beliefs, and outcomes. The goal of CBT is to help you challenge and resolve unhelpful thought patterns and problematic beliefs in hopes for you to experience emotional freedom and live confidently.
